Simplicity Vacuum Cleaner
Review of the Simplicity Vacuum Cleaner
Do you need a full-size canister vacuum that offers perks such as HEPA filtration, Xenon headlamps, and a telescopic wand? If so, the Simplicity Vacuum Cleaner S36 or S38 may be exactly what you’re looking for.
Both models include a 3-year comprehensive warranty (parts and labor) and a 7-year motor warranty.
Simplicity Vacuum Cleaner Full Size Canister Features
Cord Length and Other Details
Simplicity designed the S36 and S38 with several thoughtful details. Each model comes with a 28-foot cord, long enough to keep you from running out of reach halfway up the stairs. Few things frustrate a user more than having to stop and find a new outlet.
An auto cord rewind saves even more time—press the button and the cord retracts neatly into the canister.
The power nozzles include a Xenon headlamp that lights up the area you’re vacuuming. A metal telescopic wand also comes standard, allowing you to adjust the height so you can vacuum comfortably no matter who’s using it.
A full-bag indicator adds another helpful touch. Instead of opening compartments to check whether the bag needs replacing, you just glance at the indicator.
Durability
Simplicity builds vacuums that last, and the S36 and S38 follow that tradition. Steel bottom plates, metal brushrolls, and belts with lifetime warranties give these models long-term strength and performance.
The S38 uses an extruded aluminum brushroll with three rows of replaceable brush strips. The S36 has a steel brushroll with two rows of replaceable brush strips.
Both models include lifetime belts; the S38’s belt is made from Kevlar for added durability.
Filtration
Both the S36 and S38 feature HEPA filtration, charcoal filters, S-Class HEPA filters, HEPA bags, and a completely sealed system.
If someone in your home struggles with allergies, this level of filtration helps remove dust and allergens, creating a healthier environment.
S-Class HEPA certification ensures the system removes 99.97 percent of particles measuring 0.3 microns or larger. Because the system is fully sealed, trapped particles don’t escape during vacuuming.
On-Board Tools and Accessories
Staying true to the Simplicity name, these canister vacuums skip unnecessary gadgets and include tools that handle real-world cleaning needs.
You get a crevice tool for tight spaces, an upholstery tool for furniture, and a dusting brush. All tools store on the vacuum, so they’re always within reach instead of misplaced.
Two additional brushes come included: a 12-inch hardwood floor brush and a hardwood/carpet combination brush.
Pros and Cons of the Simplicity Vacuum Cleaner
One major difference between the S36 and S38 is the dirt sensor—only the S38 includes it. The sensor shows where extra vacuuming is needed, while the S36 lacks this feature.
Price is the biggest drawback. These vacuums aren’t cheap, and the MSRP is difficult to pin down. Most estimates put them in the $1300–$1400 range.
Simplicity Full Size Canister Vac Recommendations
Simplicity maintains a loyal customer base, and the brand’s metal components contribute to its strong reputation for durability. (Metal outlasts plastic.)
Because Simplicity vacuums are sold only through authorized dealers, the best way to decide whether the S36 or S38 is right for you is to visit a dealer and try one in person.
