Hoover WindTunnel Bagged Canister Vacuum Cleaner Review

Review of the Hoover WindTunnel Bagged Canister Vacuum Cleaner

The WindTunnel canister (models S3670 and S367055) are compact and weigh in at about 24 pounds. They feature Hoovers “windtunnel” technology that is also used on all their upright models as well.

Both of these models use HEPA bags which improves air quality over regular bags. Between these HEPA bags and their filtration system, 99.97% of dust and allergens are trapped down to 0.3 microns. This is important information for allergy sufferers.

These Hoover WindTunnel bagged canisters range in price from about $232 from online retailers to $299 directly from Hoover. The WindTunnel canister is backed by a limited three year warranty.

Hoover WindTunnel Bagged Canister Features:

  • WindTunnel Technology
  • Variable Suction Control
  • HEPA Bags
  • Low Profile
  • Quiet Operation
  • 6 foot Hose Swivel

WindTunnel Technology:

This vacuum is not short on power. Ask anyone that owns one and you will find that the WindTunnel does an excellent job sucking up dirt and dust in its path. It’s also designed with three suction channels to stop that annoying scatter of small particles as you approach.

Variable Suction Control:

These vacuums have an electronic suction control adjustment with a LED light that displays the level. This is a great feature because you can turn down the suction for surfaces such as small rugs or upholstery. You can also turn it up for deeper pile carpet or pet hair.

Low Profile:

The 14” brush bar has a low enough profile to get under object that you don’t want to move such as beds and dressers. There is also a headlight for making sure there are no objects hiding that could accidentally get vacuumed up.

Quick Connect:

The Hoover WindTunnel canister has a convenient connect and disconnect system. This makes it really easy to switch tools or go from vacuuming a floor with the brush bar to dusting with the wand. In fact all the features of this model are conveniently placed.

Hoover WindTunnel Bagged Canister Recommendations:

Unfortunately, Mrs Clean does not recommend this model. It is at the higher end price range for a canister but the quality seems to be lacking. The suction power is excellent but the hose, pet attachment and other plastic parts do not seem to hold up under regular use.

People either love or hate these models which seems to indicate inferior workmanship or poor quality control. If I had the choice, I would go with a bagless and purchase the S3825 or S3765-040. These offer just as many features, no bags but better customer satisfaction.

Pros:

Great suction from the WindTunnel technology. No lack of power and a variable speed that gives you just the right amount of suction for each of your tasks.

With the HEPA filter and HEPA bags, this vacuum traps 99.97% of allergens. The Quick Disconnect makes it easy to switch attachments to vacuum and dust many surfaces.

With one step the cord automatically rewinds into the canister. No bending or messy cords to deal with.

Cons:

If there is a problem with the machine, you will need to take it to an “authorized” repair shop. It is best to locate one in your area before needing this service. Make sure that you have one close, find out if there is any cost involved in checking out the unit and ask the repair shop about repair issues and how long it takes them to get replacement parts.

There is only a small compartment for storage and you will only be able to squeeze a couple of tools in.

It could be designed better. The wheels are small so the vacuum won’t go over its own cord. The small wheels also make it harder to turn without flipping. Hose is stiff and dust and dirt seem to get trapped inside the hose causing clogs.
