Review of Riccar RSL3 Supralite

The RSL3 is an upright vacuum manufactured by Riccar for residential use. It uses disposable bags, and is one of Riccar’s supralite models. It is lightweight, and weighs only 8 lbs. Riccar claims it cleans better than the leading competitors light weight vacuum by 40 percent.

The RSL3 has a single speed motor, and does not have an onboard squeegee, and is therefore only compatible with carpeted flooring.

Riccar backs this model vacuum with a 3 year warranty. It‘s MSRP is $399.95. Riccar vacuums are only available from authorized dealers.

Lightweight:

At 8 pounds, this is probably one of the lightest upright vacuums available. Because of its weight, it is easy to maneuver, and easy to use to vacuum stairs, or carry up a flight of stairs. This vacuum is a great choice for people with limited mobility or strength, or for people with young children who want the children to take on some of the household chores.

HEPA Filtration:

The RSL3 features a HEPA bag. This advanced filtration system removes dust, pollens and other allergens. The particles are trapped in the disposable bag, and not released back into the air when the bag is thrown away.

Durability:

Backed by a three year manufacturer’s warranty, the RSL3 is an extremely durable vacuum. It doesn’t come with attachments, but this also means there are fewer parts that could actually break. The wheels are a soft rubber, the bottom plate is polycarbon, and the handle tube is steel.

On/off Switch:

The On/off is conveniently located on the handle of the RSL3. If you ever spent time searching for an on/off switch located somewhere on the front of a vacuum, you’ll know what a great feature this is. It is also a lighted switch, which again makes it easier to find.

Riccar RSL3 Supralite Recommendations:

The RSL3 for weighing only 8 pounds does a great job of sucking up dirt and debris. The brush roller is aggressive and one reviewer wrote that it actually restored the nap in her older carpet. The vacuum is easy to maneuver and lift.

The one negative thing that comes to mind with the RSL3 is that it is for use on carpet only. Since the brush roller can’t be disengaged, the vacuum is probably only safe for carpet only, not for hard surface floors that could be scratched.

This vacuum also does not have any attachments. So if you need a vacuum with extensions to get into either tight places, or high areas, this would not be the vacuum for you. However if you are looking for a long lasting vacuum that does a great job on carpets, this is it.
