Metropolitan Vacuum Cleaner Review

Review of Metropolitan Professional Vacuum

Metro Vacuum manufactures two full sized canister vacuums.

The models are the ADM-4PNHSF and the ADM-4SF. Both models have 4.0 Peak HP twin fan motors for superior performance and 4 stage HEPA filtration.

The ADM-4SF has 11.25 amp motor, and the ADM-4PNHSF has a 13 amp motor and an electric power nozzle.

Both models have a retro, cylindrical shaped body made out of stainless steel and chrome.

The Metropolitan full sized canister weighs about 22 lbs and the motors on these models are backed by a 5 year warranty. The rest of the vacuum has a 90 day labor and 1 year parts warranty. If you shop around on the internet the ADM-4PNHSF is available from $359, the ADM-4SF is available from $243.

Metropolitan Professional Vacuum Features:

  • Twin Fan Motor
  • 4 Stage HEPA Filtration
  • Cleaning Accessories
  • Electric Power Nozzle ( on the ADM-4PNHSF model only)

Twin Fan Motor:

The twin fan motor is a design feature that allows the Metropolitan vacuum to operate at 4 horsepower peak power, and create superior suction (95 inches of water lift). The vacuum airflow is measured at 130 cubic feet per minute. The manufacture claims repeated vacuuming over an area won’t be necessary, because of the suction power, repeated passes shouldn’t happen.

4 Stage HEPA Filtration:

The Metropolitan’s four stage filter system mean 99.97 percent of air born irritants are removed.

The four stages are:

  • A disposable paper bag
  • A cloth filter bag
  • A charcoal foam filter
  • And a HEPA certified long life filter

Less air born irritants left in your home after vacuuming means your allergy or asthma sufferer will be more comfortable.

Cleaning Accessories:

The ADM-4SF is designed primarily for bare floors and therefore comes with a flooring tool (used on bare floors or area rugs), a crevice tool, and a fabric tool. It also has a dust brush, and 2 chrome extensions to help reach hard to reach areas.

The ADM-4PNHSF is designed to vacuum clean carpets as well, and comes with a few more accessories. This model comes with 4 chrome extensions, crevice tool, and fabric tool. It also comes with a dust brush, and a floor/wall brush. The 4PNHSF also has an electric power nozzle. Both models have 7 foot flexible hoses, but the model 4PNHSF hose is also an upgrade; it is power conductive.

Metropolitan Professional Vacuum Recommendations:

There are mixed reviews on the Metropolitan Full sized Canister Vacuum. The comments from users range from the not very satisfied, to the very satisfied.

Pros:

It has concentrated, sustained suction. User’s comments say the vacuum has very powerful suction, and if you aren’t careful when vacuuming items such as coins or socks are likely to get sucked up. Users were also impressed with the vacuum’s ability to vacuum up dog hair.

It is quiet to operate, and is easily maneuvered. It has long hoses so you can reach many areas without the extensions attached.

It has a multiple filtration system that is very effective.

A few of the reviewers wished they had purchased the upgrade model with the power head. The power head is fairly expensive to purchase after the fact ($160), so this might be a point to consider when choosing between models.

The extensions mean you can vacuum above floor level with relative ease.

Cons:

There are 2 power switches on the ADM-4PNHSF. One is located on the canister body; the other is located on the power nozzle. This is rather awkward – when you shut the power off on the nozzle, you still have to shut the power off on the canister, and vice versa.

The switch on the body is a little awkward also. It’s a toggle switch with high on one end, off in the middle, and low on the other. Users have commented that this takes a little getting used to.

The vacuum does not have a good storage system for the accessories. The canister itself is made out of durable stainless steel and chrome, but the accessory holder is made out of plastic, which one user described as flimsy.
