Hoover WindTunnel Rewind Vacuum Cleaner Review
Review of the Hoover WindTunnel Rewind Bagless Vacuum Cleaner
The Hoover WindTunnel T-Series Rewind has three models to choose from; model numbers UH70110, UH70120 and UH70130.
The Hoover WindTunnel T-Series Rewind is a long name for a fairly simple but effective vacuum. All models feature dual cyclonic action and that is where the name “windtunnel comes from. This is an upright vacuum that has a dirt cup so you don’t have the hassle of replacing bags.
The Windtunnel is a fairly basic model that is lightweight (around 16.5 pounds)so you can take it up stairs and move easily around the house. Although it only weighs 16.5 pounds, don’t let that fool you, this vacuum will provide ample suction and is equipped with a few added convenient features.
Priced from about $99 from online retailers to $129 from Hoover directly. These models come with a 2 year limited warranty.
WindTunnel Rewind Features:
- Patented dual cyclone WindTunnel technology.
- HEPA filtration system with a washable and reusable filter
- 5 height adjustments to move across any floor surface.
- On board tools include: Turbo Tool, upholstery brush and wand and a motorized brush
- 27 foot Auto Rewind Cord
WindTunnel Technology:
The WindTunnel is designed to remove deep down dirt that gets embedded in the carpet. Its powerful cyclonic suction minimizes debris from scattering so you will be able to efficiently clean a 13.5 inch wide path. Cyclonic technology features a dirt cup so you can save money and time because there are no more bags to buy.
Hoover HEPA Filtration:
Hoover has a high quality HEPA filtration system that traps dust and debris to leave the exhausted air clean. This filter is easy to remove and rinse so that you can reuse it over and over again. This machine even has a system check indicator that lets you know when the filter needs to be cleaned.
On Board Tools:
Tools are an important part of any vacuum. The WindTunnel comes standard with ample tools to get a variety of jobs done. There is a air powered turbo hand tool, a 12 inch extension wand, a crevice tool and an upholstery and dusting brush. These tools are all stored conveniently on board and, with the 8 foot stretch hose, you will be able to clean stairs, furniture, corners, ceilings and all your nooks and crannies.
WindTunnel Rewind Recommendations:
The WindTunnel T-Series is lightweight, has excellent suction power, and the self rewinding cord is a great feature. This is a great vacuum for the price but there may be some things to consider before buying.
The beater brush does not turn off for hardwood floors on model numbers UH70110 and UH70120. If you have hardwoods, you would really want to choose model number UH70130 where they have addressed this issue. So, for the same price you would get a better all around machine that is safe for hardwoods.
Another consideration is that for about $30 more you can purchase the WindTunnel Pet model. The Pet model has a suction only mode so that by depressing the pedal it will turn off the beater bar and you will be able to easily transition from carpet to hardwood floors. The Pet model is slightly heavier (17.8 lbs) but comes with an extra attachment, a headlight and a collapsible handle for easier storage.
If you only have carpet in your home, the Windtunnel T-Series models UH70110 and UH70120 are still a great buy and are excellent performers. However, if you have hardwoods or laminate you should choose the UH70130 for the same price.
They are all decent vacuums, but I recommend only the rewind UH70130 vacuum because the ability to shut off the beater bar a must-have feature in my opinion- If you have pets and can afford the $30 then I would suggest moving up to the WindTunnel Pet model to better fit your needs.
Pros
This model is powerful and sucks up hidden dirt even in thick carpet. Even though it is powerful, it is actually very quiet, especially for a 12 amp vacuum. The Wind Tunnel Rewind is easily to maneuver and has 5 settings to adjust to all surfaces.
No bags to buy and the filter is washable and reusable. This saves money and time running to the store.
The 27 foot auto rewinding cord may seem like an insignificant feature, but I have experienced many times that my vacuum is put away with the cord hanging loosely for me to rewind. It is so easy to step on a pedal and the cord just retracts into the machine like magic! This is much better than hand winding and bending for the whole length of the cord.
The WindTunnel made changing a belt and cleaning the brush bar easy. You just flip two levers to allow easy access and you are off and running in a breeze.
It’s very affordable with many features and tools.
Cons
The number one drawback is that there is not a brush bar shut off switch on the UH70110 and UH7020 model. This means that the bar will spin on a wood floor. You would want to make sure to adjust the height up for hardwoods if you are concerned with risk of damage to your wood floors or be sure to purchase the UH70130 model that allows a suction only mode.
The dirt cup is not as easy and hassle free as they make it appear. Dirt and hair do not just slide out the canister it tends to cling to the filter and on the inside. You will have to either let some of the dirt cling to the inside or wipe it out with a moist paper towel.
None of the models have a headlight or a full bag indicator and are not self-propelled; features that may or may not be important to you.
