Unfortunately, cleaning products are not regulated as much as food products. Therefore, companies can say a product is all natural, when it isn’t.

The only way to know if your cleaning products are actually all natural is to make them yourself at home. It is not only less expensive, but much safer.

Vinegar

You might not like the smell of vinegar, but this is one natural ingredient that works wonders on virtually any surface.

The only thing you don’t want to clean with vinegar is stone such as granite, marble and travertine as it can damage the surface.

Vinegar is a natural disinfectant and germ killer and will get your countertops clean and your mirrors sparkling.

Vinegar can be used to clean toilets, floors, stovetops, and virtually anything.

Baking Soda

Baking soda is a natural deodorizer and a mild abrasive. Mix with water to make a paste that can be used to clean practically any surface.

Lemon Juice

Lemon is very acidic and can be used to dissolve soap scum or other hard to clean things.

Letting lemon juice soak on an area can remove most stains, but it is good to do a spot test first to make sure that it won’t damage the area.

Mixing lemon juice with olive oil will make a good furniture polish. Lemon on its own can also be used to clean dishes. A bit of lemon down your garbage disposal can get rid of lingering food odors.

Tea Tree Oil

Mixing tea tree oil with water can make a great tub and shower cleaner. Tea tree oil works get on getting rid of mold and mildew.

It is a strong smelling substance and rather expensive, but a little will do a lot of work around the house. You will need about one teaspoon per cup of water, but what you don’t use can be saved for the next time you need it.

Borax (Sodium Borate)

Borax is a white powder that comes in a box that looks a lot like dishwashing detergent, but it can be used to clean all your bathroom surfaces.

This natural substance is in many soaps and shampoos. It is gentle enough to use for cleaning wallpaper, but strong enough to get the mildew off of your shower walls.

Rubbing Alcohol

Although alcohol is not the best cleaner for your everyday use it is a great disinfectant. Use it to wipe down walls where there have been lots of hands, door knobs, and other areas that get a lot of germy traffic.
