Making your Own Green Cleaning Products
Green Cleaning Products
With more and more people becoming environmentally conscious, using products that are free of poisons that harm the planet are becoming more popular.
There are several ways that you can go green. You can purchase products that have been designed by large corporations that are for sale at your local supermarket, or you can make your own environmentally friendly cleaners out of ingredients that you probably already have in your home.
All it depends on is your time and budget.
Homemade Green Products:
One of the great things about going green is that you can make your own products right in your own home. Using products that you probably already have on hand you will be able to make all the cleaning products that you need.
Vinegar:
Vinegar can be used for all types of cleaning products.
If you mix 3 tablespoons (15ml) of vinegar with 2 cups of water you will have a product that is great for cleaning windows and for cleaning mold and masking odors.
Vinegar can also be combined with baking soda to make a product that is great for cleaning toilets, pour half a cup of vinegar into the toilet, and baking soda and let it sit for approx 5 to 10 minutes and then clean as normal.
Hydrogen Peroxide:
A 1:2 solution of hydrogen peroxide to water makes a product that will make it safe and easier to get rid of any mold that you have on tile.
After mixing the solution spray on the effected areas you want to clean and let it soak in for approximately 45 minutes and then clean off the mold.
Lemon Juice:
Lemon juice can be an effective cleanser on a variety of surfaces. To clean and disinfect a cutting board rub a slice of lemon across the board and let the citric acid work its magic.
Save the left over lemon peel and grind it up in the garbage disposal to get rid of unwanted odors.
You Have Many Options:
As you can see there are many options at your disposal if you want to go green.
Many of the home remedies are inexpensive and do not take much time to mix together. Perhaps most importantly, you cannot go wrong by going green, the products are effective whether store bought or homemade and your being a good steward to the environment.
